Chinese search engine company Baidu recently reached an agreement with Nokia to provide map services to Chinese users outside China as Baidu aims to develop international businesses through mobile services.
Chinese lifestyle service provider Ganji.com has joined the project named Openmap on Baidu’s location-based service platform. With this move, users will be able to gain various lifestyle service information from Baidu maps and Ganji.com, including recruitment information, real estate data, express delivery, and wedding arrangements. Google announced that John Liu, Google’s head of Greater China and global vice president, will soon depart the company, and his role will be taken over by Scott Beaumont, who leads Google’s partnerships business in Europe, in August 2013.
