India continued their onslaught against depleted Bangladesh side on the second day of the pink-ball Test at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The hosts strengthened their grip with the bat after Indian skipper Virat Kohli scored his 27th Test century.

Kohli’s deputy Ajinkya Rahane gave good support to his captain as both of them added a 99 runs alliance. Rahane scored a fine fifty but could not keep his cut short to ground and gave a simple catch to the point fielder.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli continued his assault as he drove ferociously. The talisman batted at the top of his game as he equaled Ricky Ponting’s record of most centuries as Test captain (41). Furthermore, this was Kohli’s 20th Test century as a skipper and he became the first Indian batsman to score a pink-ball Test hundred.

Kohli scored a fine knock of 136 runs with the help of 18 fours. The linchpin hardly gave any chances to the Bangladesh bowlers.

Subsequently, Kohli declared the innings on 347-9 after India lead was 241 runs. On the other hand, Bangladesh once again started their innings on a horrendous note. The visitors lost their opener Shadman Islam in the very first over. The southpaw was plumbed in front of the wickets by Ishant Sharma.
