Almost 80 days have passed since Carlos Yulo revealed about his mother Angelica’s embezzlement controversy. Soon after his double golds in the Paris Olympics, the gymnast spent a sizable amount of time to draw attention to the issue. Through sharing TikTok videos from his handle, Yulo mentioned his mother’s act of withdrawing money from his account without notifying him. As per him, the amount goes as big as “70,000 pesos ($1,221),” and it is from his incentive achieved in the 2022 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. A vicious blow to the trust! However, Angelica didn’t give in.

Angelica Yulo has continually ignored the attacks, instead reportedly blaming Carlos’s girlfriend, Chloe San Jose, for stirring trouble. This only deepened the family rift. Despite Carlos sending a positive message to his mother, it wasn’t enough to mend things. He and Chloe continue to keep their distance from his Manila-based family, while his father, Mark Andrew Yulo, works to bridge the divide.

Previously, the patriarch of the Yulo family showed up in the welcome parade after his son landed in the Philippines, finishing his heroics at the Paris Olympics. Among the jubilant fans in the line, he also wore the same color with a placard on his hand: “Caloy, dito Papa mo!” (‘Caloy, your dad is here’). In the crowd of thousands, Carlos Yulo didn’t miss his father. In fact, Mark’s gesture touched his heart and in the reply, he showed a salute to his father. Meanwhile, the moment stood there, but the ice didn’t melt. The son and father failed to live under the same roof. But did the aftermath dampen the proud father’s effort to stitch the relationship? No.

Recently, in a Facebook live, Mark Andrew Yulo met several enthusiasts for interactions. There, someone from the pack mentioned that he was standing in his son’s condominium. That lit the eyes of the loving father. He repeatedly requested the fan to knock on his son’s gate or bid a wish if he spotted Carlos. An emotional rundown! However, nothing happened as per his wishes. But the father’s heart would not budge. In the Facebook live, he continued to show hope in mending the bond with the 24-year-old gymnast.

Even fans came up with topics like Carlos Yulo’s relationship with his girlfriend. In the past, Angelica, Mark’s wife, spewed a lot of venom on Chloe’s name or her pairing with Carlos. But the senior Yulo has yet to take that route. Rather, in several instances, Chloe has interacted with Mark while exchanging words.

But for Angelica, the Australian has yet to show the same reaction. However, in his Facebook Live as well, Mark did not go overboard regarding the relationship between Chloe and his son. But he tried to put a lid on the discussion by cutting jokes. A father’s heart for his son, isn’t it? But this is not the first time the soft-spoken individual shared something about his son publicly. In the past, he demonstrated his side several times, eyeing to bring in a positive solution.

Carlos Yulo’s father saves his best voice for his son

Amidst the firefighting throughout these days, Carlos Yulo’s father has never felt tired. After all, being the Yulo patriarch, he has the responsibility to stitch the bonding among the family members. In one such attempt, he conceded a few words while interacting with Inquirer. There he said, “I’m happy with what you achieved. But you should apologize to your mother for telling her to steal your image.”  Carlos did not come with a rejoinder, but his lady love appeared in the scene.

In the verbal exchange, Chloe told Mark to share a few words with his wife, Carlos’s mother, Angelica. But in the end, she shared her gratitude for Carlos’s father for his supporting role for the gymnast, despite facing adversities. A part of this supporting nature came to the fore when Mark Yulo thanked all stakeholders for helping his son win big at the Paris Olympics. “Thank you all to those who prayed for my son. To all his supporters, God bless you,”: the words came from a teary-eyed father after his son made history at the grandest stage of gymnastics. Yet again, a similar warmth prevailed in Mark’s voice in the Facebook Live. Would it solve the problem? What do you think?
