Hollywood’s newest Irish star Patrick Gibson’s romance with A-lister royalty
Patrick Gibson went from studying at university to starring in one of the hottest new American TV shows.
The Dublin actor is quickly becoming one of Ireland’s newest Hollywood stars to make it big in the States.
Away from his acting career, he is also in a relationship with a famous actress – whose parents are Hollywood royalty.

Early life
Patrick was born on 19 April 1995, making him 29 years old. He is originally from Dublin and grew up living in Stillorgan and Donnybrook. He also spent time in Greystones, County Wicklow.
His father is also an actor and his mother works in marketing. His brother, William, previously also acted but is now a cardiologist in Montreal, Canada.
He studied at Gonzaga College, before attending Trinity College Dublin to study philosophy. However, he didn’t graduate and instead left halfway through his degree in 2016 after being cast in a Netflix show.
Acting career
Patrick appeared in his first film in 2012. He played a character called Jake in What Richard Did and starred alongside Jack Reynor.
Since then, he’s starred in several other movies, including The Darkest Minds, Tolkien and Good Girl Jane.
The actor has also been part of some major TV shows. He joined the Netflix mystery drama The OA in 2016 as Steve Winchell. He remained on the programme until it was cancelled.
It was announced that Patrick was joining the second season of the fantasy show Shadow and Bone. He portrayed Nikolai Lantsov, however, the show was cancelled before they did a third season.
His most recent role is the show Dexter: Original Sin. It is a prequel of the crime drama series Dexter that started in 2006. He plays the titular character Dexter Morgan, who was originally portrayed by Michael C. Hall.
Back home in Ireland, Patrick was awarded Rising Star at the 2017 Irish Film & Television Academy – other actors who have won this award include Nicola Coughlan, Jamie Dornan and Domhnall Gleeson.
Relationship

Patrick has been dating American actress Maude Apatow since early 2024.
People will likely know Maude from the HBO series Euphoria, where she plays Lexi Howard. She also comes from a well-known family – her mother is actress Leslie Mann, who starred in This Is 40 and The Other Woman, and director, producer, and screenwriter Judd Apatow is her dad, who has worked on Knocked Up and The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
The couple appear on each other’s social media, from date night at a basketball game to trips to Japan together.
For Maude’s 27th birthday in December 2024, he shared snaps of them together and wrote, “Happy Birthday Maude” and “Love you more every day”.
