Brands poke fun at Bong Go’s attempt to deliver pizza to Duterte
MANILA, Philippines – Former president Rodrigo Duterte was arrested on the morning of March 11 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 after he arrived from his trip to Hong Kong. His arrest was ordered by the International Criminal Court (ICC) because of his crimes against humanity — particularly his deadly war on drugs.
When the ex-president was taken into custody at the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City, his former aide, Senator Bong Go, was spotted outside the gates with a box of S&R pizza in tow. He was recorded attempting to convince the officers guarding the air base to let him in so he could deliver pizza to Duterte, his wife Honeylet, and youngest daughter Kitty — whom he said repeatedly made phone calls to him because they were hungry.
He then tried to slide it through the cracks of the gate so the officers could hand it over to the Dutertes.

Netizens got a laugh out of the situation, and some brands were quick to poke fun at Go’s pizza delivery attempt.
After clips and snapshots of the incident went viral, Domino’s Pizza posted a photo of a stack of their boxes when they noticed that netizens mistook the S&R pizza Go was holding for a Domino’s Pizza box.
“These are Domino’s Pizza boxes,” they playfully captioned their post, along with a winking emoji.
Pizza Hut, another famous pizza chain, joined in on the fun — reposting a meme that gaming content creator Kurimeow shared of her holding a Pizza Hut box while standing in front of a house gate.
“Love language: pizza, acts of service,” Kurimeow captioned her post, alluding to Go’s love language of “acts of service” in action after coming to the Dutertes’ rescue.
Meanwhile, Boracay’s The Sunny Side Cafe announced that they’ll be hosting a promo for their pizzas because they “woke up in such a good mood.” On March 12, from 5 pm until closing time, customers can get 30% off on their pizzas, with the “30” seemingly alluding to Duterte’s moniker “Du30.”
Shopee had also shared a special voucher the morning after Duterte’s chartered plane took off en route to the Hague, so he could face the ICC.
“At dahil masaya tayo today may voucher drop kami… anong oras kayo free? (And because we’re happy today, we have a voucher drop… what time are you guys free?)” Shopee wrote.
The post, however, has since been deleted.
