One of the world’s largest religious gatherings, the Maha Kumbh, is currently underway in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, with over 35 crore pilgrims expected to gather at the Sangam – the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. As thousands flock to the holy city, a viral video has surfaced featuring a daring act by a woman from Uttar Pradesh. In the video, shared on Instagram, Anamika is seen holding the Maha Kumbh flag before boarding an aircraft in Bangkok, Thailand. Moments later, she jumps out of the plane and unfolds the flag mid-air, leaving viewers in awe. “Prayagraj girl skydiving with Maha Kumbh flag,” read the line accompanying the video.
The caption on the post read, “Inviting people all over the globe for the world’s largest human gathering—Maha Kumbh 2025.”
The video went viral in no time recording more than eight million views on Instagram. Reacting to the post, one person commented, “Congratulations for such a brave act.” Another Instagram user described it as a “Proud feat.” This person felt that it was an “Emotional moment” for him. A user responded, by referring to the video as, “Heart-touching.”
Recently, a young man named Abhay Singh aka Masani Gorakh, spotted at the Maha Kumbh Mela took the Internet by storm. Also known as IITian Baba, Singh caught the attention of social media after revealing that he had studied aerospace engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay. Later, he decided to leave the field of science and became a monk.
Around 3.5 crore devotees took the Amrit Snan on Makar Sankranti on Tuesday. Today, the event entered its third day. Celebrated at the Triveni Sangam, Maha Kumbh takes place once in every twelve years. It celebrates the meeting of the Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati – the three sacred rivers.
The Kumbh Mela is held in Haridwar, Prayagraj, Ujjain and Nashik. Prayagraj hosts the Maha Kumbh Mela permanently. The Kumbh Mela has been linked to bathing in sacred waters in a bid to atone for sins. There are six baths or snans in Maha Kumbh. These include the three royal baths (Amrit Snan) and three other baths.
