Train Running Upside Down

This video was shared by a social media influencer named Aishwarya Karkera on her Instagram page. She stated that this scene is from Japan.

In the video, she is standing on the road, and a monorail approaches from behind her. The interesting thing is that this train is not running on a track below it; instead, the track is above it. The train moves forward very smoothly with people sitting inside. The passengers are not upside down; they are seated normally, but the train’s system is inverted.

How The Chiba Urban Monorail Works

The Chiba Urban Monorail is an upside-down monorail in Chiba, Japan. It hangs from a track overhead and, thus, gives the impression of being upside-down. It has a track length of 15.2 kilometres, and this monorail has two lines: a short line with four stations and a long line with 15 stations. It is the longest suspended monorail system in the world, providing a smooth, quiet ride and panoramic views since it began operation on March 28, 1988.

This monorail was introduced in 1977 in Japan to address the issues of traffic and noise pollution. It connects Chiba Minato to Kencho-Mae, and one of the greatest attractions of the Chiba monorail is that it passes by museums, a sports stadium, and a zoo while offering cheaper and easier access to the heart of the city.
