An anchor from Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) media debunked circulating fake news, claiming that the upcoming rally on Monday is in support of Vice President Sara Duterte. The religious organization said it is a National Rally for Peace.
The clarification comes amid reports suggesting that the event, scheduled on January 13 at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila, is a show of support for the vice president.
“The upcoming peace rally in Liwasang Bonifacio is for peace. It is not for VP Sara. It is not meant to take sides. It is not in favor of anyone, not for VP Sara,” according to Net25 news anchor Ali Sotto.
“Let’s be objective. Let’s be factual. The rally is for peace,” she added.
Sotto further emphasized that the rally is a display of solidarity and is not intended to support or oppose any political figure.
This statement counters the claims of lawyer Harry Roque, who earlier suggested that the rally serves to express strong opposition to impeachment cases versus VP Duterte.
Roque has also been promoting the rally on his Facebook account, inviting the public to join.
