20YO Coco Gauff Might Just Be the Mature Player on Team USA After Sharing Cheeky Info About Danielle Collins

While Team USA looks set to take the trophy home in Sunday’s final at the United Cup, the atmosphere in the squad is amazing. Coco Gauff’s heroics in her tournament debut have made America a fan-favorite to win. The 20-year-old tennis sensation defeated Czechia’s Karolina Muchova on Saturday to help her country enter the title clash for a second time. While Gauff appears to have taken the role of steering the team’s ship toward victory, her teammate and WTA pro-Danielle Collins is trying to keep everyone entertained. And now she’s got the attention of Gauff as well who just revealed Danimal’s hidden yet fun side!

Gauff overcame the challenge of Muchova in the SF round of the event and took the match 6-1, 6-4. With that, she also succeeded in keeping the h2h tally against the World No.22 clean. As of now, Gauff is leading it 4-0 against Muchova in their WTA encounters. But she did confess that Muchova gave her a tough time, and she had to earn the victory. “The whole match I was intense and focused and I think that made the difference today. Happy to get my team off to a, a good start here in Sydney,” she said, as reported by United Cup’s website.

Following her emphatic win, Gauff engaged in a post-match interview, talking about her overall experience. But while she was busy answering questions, someone was capturing her. Well, it was none other than Danielle Collins! The World No.11 apparently turned into a vlogger and was recording Gauff’s post-match moments.

When Gauff was informed about the same, she wasn’t too shocked. “Danielle Collins looks like she’s doing a vlog. Did you teach her how to do that? Are you keeping the team young?” asked the reporter. To this, she replied, “Danielle is pretty young.” Adding to it, she then revealed what really shocked her this time. I’m surprised she hasn’t done some twerking yet. I had to tell her not do do that” said Gauff, as mentioned by @TheTennisLetter on X.

For the unversed, Collins is known for being a twerk queen among her teammates. And who can tell that better than Gauff herself? Her latest revelation about Collins’ twerking talent comes from her time with her back in 2024 before the Paris Olympics. In July, the American girl squad had decided to have an ‘attitude check.’ They showcased it through their Ralph Lauren closing ceremony uniforms. Their style was inspired by the US gymnastics team. While everyone was posing in a candid way in front of the camera, Collins decided to do the unthinkable while making Gauff stunned.

In a brief TikTok video, the 31-year-old was seen trying twerking, leaving Gauff laughing endlessly. The video was shared by the 20-year-old’s official TikTok account. It was the first time she discovered this side of Collins.

Coming back to the United Cup campaign, Coco Gauff seems to be in the focus. With her crucial role in all the matches for Team USA, she’s earned huge praise from teammate Taylor Fritz.

In an official interview after America’s QF victory over China, prior to the SF stage, Fritz couldn’t resist himself from praising Gauff’s amazing talent. He believes she’s the key contributor in taking the nation closer to its second United Cup title. “Coco did such a good job putting us ahead and giving me the chance to come out and put us through,” he said as reported by the event’s official website on Wednesday. “There was a little bit of pressure because I didn’t want to be the one who loses it for the team after Coco won all her matches this week,” he added.

On the other hand, Gauff also thinks the same about the World No.4 ATP pro. During the semifinal match on Saturday, Fritz managed to seal his singles encounter against Tomas Machac. The latter decided to abruptly retire due to cramps and pain in his left knee. That time, Machac was actually leading 7-6(4), 5-3. But with his withdrawal, Fritz succeeded in moving ahead.

Ahead of his match, however, Coco Gauff had already made the prediction that Fritz would eventually emerge as the winner. While lauding him, she said, “I have full confidence in Taylor. He’s a great player, he has one of the best mindsets on Tour. I don’t take that lightly. After spending time with him at the Olympics on the mixed court, and then today and this past week, this is just the beginning. That’s why today I have a lot of confidence he’ll pull out the win,” she said, as reported by United Cup’s official website on Saturday.
