I wish you all a sparkling new year, filled with joy, love, and endless possibilities

Happy New Year to you all, in these uncertain times. But is ‘happy’ the right word?

There are a lot of problems in this turbulent world we are living in, and I am glad I am going out, and not coming into it. It scares me to think of the future for our children.

One thing that I saw that really upset me over Christmas was the burning of a Christmas Tree in Syria, which caused protests. These people knew exactly what they were doing, and social media did the rest.

Whatever religion you are, why can’t we live in peace, in the name of your god? The world is a powder keg, waiting to explode, not helped by Putin, China, North Korea, Trump, Nigel Farage, Elon Musk, and the list goes on.

Does anyone know why Elon Musk is getting involved with American, and now British politics? Trump, Farage, Musk – each want to shape the world in their own unique way.

These three men’s combined influence, combined with a social media platform, can be seen as a force for change, but it raises many concerns. Their views do not hold any compromises, it’s totally black and white.

The social media platform, X, is becoming very violent, radical and one-sided in so many posts. There seems to be no one policing it, but they will claim there is.

Musk wants total freedom of speech, but at what cost? My phone-in for many years had freedom of speech, but there were guidelines.

That was important, but I did push the boundaries. One thing these three men have in common, they are all total narcissists, and we need to include Putin in that group.

So, on a lighter note, what is the future for 2025 in Liverpool? We’ve got Creamfields and Reminisce, Sting is headlining at the Pier Head, Africa Oye and Hamilton and Matilda are coming to the Empire.

Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel are at Anfield, and the Woodside Ferry terminal is being revamped. The list is long, so Liverpool is looking good, it’s the rest of the world we have to worry about.

I will never personally top last year, it was brilliant for me, especially with work. Conducting an orchestra at the Metropolitan Cathedral, hosting Rebecca Ferguson’s Christmas concert at the M&S Arena.

And the crowning glory was Jason Donavon ripping off my pants each night for a week when I played the narrator at the Playhouse for the Rocky Horror Show. I wish you all a sparkling new year, filled with joy, love, and endless possibilities.

Be safe and happy, we still live in the greatest place in the country.
