Asakura hails from the land of the rising sun, Japan. He was born on 31st October 1993 in Toyohashi, Aichi. No doubt, he primarily speaks Japanese. Before coming to the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Asakura fought under the banner of Rizin Fighting Federation. Therein, he dominated against his opponents and won 13 of his 16 fights in the Japan-based fight promotion.

Outside the MMA cage, the fighter with a record of 21-4 has taken over the internet with his YouTube channel, KAI Channel. He has over 1.36 million subscribers. On top of that, more than 615 million people tune in to watch his training routines and vlogs, where he always talks in Japanese. Well, Asakura is indeed a social media sensation in the Asian MMA world.

But keeping that aside, have you wondered how Kai Asakura fared in the MMA cage? Well, he does have a nick for finishing his fights. With 21 wins under his name as a professional mixed martial artist, the Japanese fighter has won 13 via KO/TKO and another 3 by submissions. As he gets ready for his UFC debut, one has to be wary of his striking skills.

Can Kai Asakura speak English?

The Japanese mixed martial artist can certainly speak English. However, his proficiency in the language seems limited. One of the times when Asakura talked in English was during an interview with TMZ Sports on the 2nd of December 2024. However, the flyweight contender faced a bit of trouble understanding a few things and had to rely on the translator to continue the conversation.

Nevertheless, Asakura is now set to land against Alexandre Pantoja at the main event of UFC 310. Needless to say, the Japanese fighter would give it his all to defeat the Brazilian champ and put his claims on the flyweight championship title. No doubt, Pantoja would get a pretty tough competition from Asakura.
