2024 Bar exams results out on December 13

MANILA, Philippines – The results of the 2024 Bar Examinations will be released on Friday, December 13, the Supreme Court (SC) announced on Wednesday, November 27.

According to the High Court, the results will be displayed in its courtyard in Padre Faura street, Manila, on the said date. As in past years, the list of passers, will be uploaded on the SC website and social media pages (X, formerly Twitter; Facebook; and Instagram).

“For those who wish to witness this momentous event, the gates of the SC Courtyard will be open to the public from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm. Please be informed that entry will be regulated due to limited space. All individuals entering the SC Courtyard shall also be subjected to security inspection,” the SC said.

“They must wear appropriate and decent attire. Persons wearing footwear with open toes and heels, bottoms ripped or cut above the knee, and sleeveless, cropped, or see-through clothing will be denied entry,” it added.

The schedule is in line with the High Court’s earlier announcement that the results will be out before the end of the year. In September, 2024 Bar Chairperson Associate Justice Mario Lopez said the oath-taking ceremony and signing of the Roll of Attorneys for successful examinees are scheduled on January 24, 2025.

For this year, aspiring lawyers flocked to testing centers in the country for the Bar Examinations held on September 8, 11, and 15. Over 10 educational institutions in the country, including the 2024 Bar headquarters San Beda College Alabang, served as testing centers.

The exams were still digitized and regionalized this year. This year was also the fourth time the exams were digitized — different from the traditional handwritten tests in the prior years.

The exams covered the following:

  • Political and Public International Law – 15%
  • Commercial and Taxation Laws – 20%
  • Civil Law – 20%
  • Labor Law and Social Legislations – 10%
  • Criminal Law – 10%
  • Remedial Law, Legal and Judicial Ethics with Practical Exercises – 25%

Last year’s exam produced 3,812 passers out of 10,387, with a passing rate of 36.77%. The University of Santo Tomas’ Ephraim Bie topped the last Bar exams with a grade of 89.2625%. – Rappler.com
