Vistara operated its last-ever domestic flight on Monday. This marked the end of an era as the airline prepared to merge with Tata-owned Air India. Vistara, which began operations in 2015, has received an outpouring of tributes and emotional messages from loyal flyers, companies and other airlines. Joining the heartfelt farewells, IndiGo also paid tribute as Vistara concluded its 9-year journey on November 11.

IndiGo posted a video of Vistara’s final flight before its merger on X (Formerly Twitter) and wrote, “As an unforgettable legacy takes its final flight, a new journey on the horizon awaits. Goodbye, Vistara.”

In response, Vistara Airlines commented, “Onward and upward! Here’s to the future and all the exciting possibilities it holds!”

The post didn’t go unnoticed by social media users. Many applauded IndiGo for the thoughtful tribute. “Great gesture,” wrote one.

Another one said, “When your competitor praises you, that’s when you know— you were DAMN GOOD!!”

Using a Bollywood dialogue reference, a social media user wrote, “Ab rulayega kya?”

“That’s the spirit IndiGo. Rivals in the market are always friends in the sky,” a comment read.

In a message on LinkedIn, Vistara CEO Vinod Kannan expressed heartfelt gratitude, thanking the team for their unwavering support and service throughout the airline’s journey. “Thank you, Team Vistara – TATA SIA Airlines Ltd., past and present. Thank you to our 75 million passengers for your support, patronage, and touching testimonials. Humbled and honored to have been part of this team. Onwards and upwards towards our new chapter. The new feeling has a new home.”
