The Penticton Vees are looking to turn things around this week, after suffering their first home loss against top competitor the Brooks Bandits on Saturday.
In a game recap issued Sunday, the Interior West Division team shared that it is now third in the British Columbia Hockey League, six points behind the Bandits after their 6-2 win.
The Bandits scored two goals in the first period by Parker Lalonde and Ethan Beyer at the South Okanagan Events Centre.
Then, shortly into the second period, Nick Peluso scored on a shorthanded breakaway. During the Bandit’s power play, Nathan Free made it 4-0 for the Brooks team.
Max Heise brought the Vees on the leaderboard at 4-1. Moments later, the Bandit’s Free widened the lead at 5-1.
Late into the third period, Free scored a hat-trick at 6-1. Finally, with just 50 seconds on the clock, Eli McKamey brought the final score to 6-2.
Despite the loss, the home game brought in a season-high crowd of over 3,200 guests.
The Vees’ next game against the West Kelowna Warriors takes place at the Royal LePage Place on Tuesday night.
