In a tragic incident near the town of Metula, close to the Lebanon-Israel border, four Thai nationals lost their lives, and one sustained injuries due to rocket fire. The information was disclosed by Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa on social media platform X on Friday.

Previous reports indicate that last year, 41 Thais were among the 1,200 casualties from a cross-border attack by Hamas militants, as confirmed by Israeli authorities. Furthermore, 30 Thai nationals were abducted during the October 7, 2023, assault, with six still believed to be held captive, according to Thai authorities.

The situation has escalated further, with Israel responding by targeting the Palestinian territory of Gaza and striking Hezbollah in Lebanon. This conflict has brought significant hardship to around 30,000 Thai nationals employed mainly in Israel’s agricultural sector. In light of the ongoing violence, Thailand’s foreign minister has called for a return to peace to protect affected civilians.
