Olympic stadium evacuated over weather warning and play SUSPENDED – before stars forced to play without fans
THREE Olympic venues have been evacuated after a weather warning in Paris.
Two Women’s Hockey matches were suspended and a match in the men’s tournament.
Matches between Spain vs South Africa and Holland vs China were put on hold in the women’s game.
In the men’s, the match between Germany and the Netherlands was suspended.
Fans inside the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium were promptly removed from the venue over weather concerns.
Both games saw fans evacuated “due to weather conditions”.
The FIH issued a statement saying: “Following a warning from Meteo France of imminent storms, a decision has been taken by the venue and the local authorities to evacuate the stadium in the interests of public safety.
“The matches today are played as per the schedule.”
And while the teams returned to play out the match, the fans didn’t.
That’s seen the games played out against an eerily empty backdrop.
