The 29-year-old has visited the likes of South Africa, Madagascar, Italy, China, Russia, Senegal, Morocco and Brazil, all by boat.

With over 45 cruises under her belt, Allie is definitely a seasoned cruise traveller.

And she says that cruising has a lot of advantages compared to the usual method of jetting abroad.

The cost-effectiveness of cruising is one of its biggest appeals, especially compared to the cost of taking a trip on land, says Allie.

With transportation, accommodations, and food included in the cost of your cruise, there is little else that you need to budget for.

When cruising, you can also visit multiple destinations without needing to budget separately for accommodations, transportation, and food.

In this way, cruising is also one of the most affordable ways to travel.

While you might not have as much time in a specific country, you get to see different places each day of your cruise.

Allie told Cruise: “You can also visit destinations that are hard to reach by land, expanding your horizons even more!

“There are fewer logistics involved when cruising too. This provides you with more time to actually relax, as you should feel rested on a vacation.

“Above all else, I’ve found that cruising is one of the cheapest ways to travel to multiple countries in one journey. I love to see the world on a budget, and the convenience of cruising simply cannot be beaten.”

Allie recalls how she and her husband took a 7-night cruise to Thailand and Malaysia for only $470 each with Royal Caribbean when they were in college.

Despite being “broke college students”, this was more feasible than booking a land-based trip to these destinations.

When recently visiting Norway, Allie said that one of the most “worthwhile” aspects of booking a cruise was the efficiency.

The travel whiz said she and her husband were able to see more of Norway by sailing on a cruise than if they had driven around on a land-based holiday.

Instead of spending hours in the car trying to visit the fjords, their cruise ship transported us between ports while we slept each evening.

Allie added: “According to my calculations, we would have spent 20 hours in the car driving from the capital city of Oslo to our itinerary’s ports of call.

“Although road-tripping can be fun, 20 hours in a small car isn’t exactly my idea of a relaxing vacation.

“Why spend hours on the road when you could be on a luxurious cruise ship decompressing instead?”

Waking up every day in a new port of a call was the “ultimate convenience” of the trip, said Allie.

She noted that not spending time struggling with navigation and logistics was particularly useful as they had more time to relax onboard.

There was no need to pack and unpack suitcases constantly while going from one destination to the next.

What else do I need to know before going on a cruise holiday?

The Sun’s Head of Travel Lisa Minot has answered some of the popular cruise questions and concerns.

I’m worried about getting seasick

“Don’t worry, these ships are built with with really efficient stabilizers and most of the time, you’re hardly be aware you’re on the ocean waves.

“If you do suffer from seasickness, most ships have a doctor onboard that should be able to prescribe you something.”

Are cruises formal?

“Cruise ships these days are much less formal. There might be one night you get a chance to dress up.

“But most times think of it like normal resort where – we’re talking shorts and t-shirts in the day.”

Will I get bored on the ship when it’s at sea?

“Look at today’s cruise ships – there is so much going on.

“Rollercoasters, ice rinks, water parks, there is so much going on, so there is nothing to worry about.”

It comes as another mum has taken to TikTok to reveal the 11 items she can’t live without when on a cruise.

One of which was wall hooks – which cost about 50p each and use a sticker to stay on the wall.

The mum pointed out it’s a handy way to store items, and can come in handy when there is not enough space in the cabin to hang wet clothes.
