BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Husband and wife duo Ray and Nicole Stone are bringing a new pastry and bubble tea shop to Basking Ridge.

The Stone Bean, at 403 King George Road in Basking Ridge in the Dewy Meadows Shopping Plaza, will be hosting a grand opening on Saturday, April 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The first 20 customers will receive free mini scones, there will be a spin to win for merchandise and vouchers, and free samples of drinks and pastries will be given out.

This is the Stone’s second location for their successful business. The Hunterdon County couple, who both have more than 20 years of restaurant experience, opened their first Stone Bean location in Clinton in September 2016.

The couple met in Nicole’s home country of Thailand and they decided to incorporate her heritage into their business.

The Stone Bean offers coffee, bubble tea and pastries that are tied with Thai and Asian profiles, said Ray Stone to Patch.

The Basking Ridge location will have “more of a focus on the bubble teas whereas the Clinton location there was more of a focus on coffee – which we are quite proud of,” said Ray.

Their coffee is all organic and the beans come from a local roaster.

The couple found the new location in Basking Ridge after helping a family member move to the community and loved the area.

“Our customers become family and friends and we found we could have the same in Basking Ridge,” said Nicole. “It’s not just a business but we want to have connections with our customers that’s how we view the benefits of our business.”

The majority of the pastries are homemade and made in-house with a Culinary Arts Institute-trained chef at the helm.

“We feel very lucky to have a very passionate chef and baker,” said Ray.

The Stone Bean offers lots of seating for customers to come in and sit down and chat with friends. It also offers a quick service for those looking to pop in and out in a matter of minutes.

Nicole noted the shop also offers some gluten-free and vegan options as well as dog treats.

Married more than 30 years the couple are very happy and proud to continue to work together.

“It makes us a very powerful couple, both supporting each other and the business,” said Ray.

“We complete each other,” said Nicole.
