TRAI on OTT services like Whatsapp, Xi Jinping’s visit and Mohan Bhagwat’s speech | The Indian Express

TRAI has been working on a set of recommendations to regulate the so-called over-the-top (OTT) services like Whatsapp, Facebook and Netflix. In this segment, first Pranav Mukul talks about why the TRAI wants to do so and then Nandagopal Rajan, who writes on technology, talks about whether authorities will be able to subject OTT services to “lawful interceptions”. Next, we talk about China. India has been making preparations for Chinese President Xi Jinping’s proposed visit to India. But, with only 3 days to go for it, the Chinese government has yet to confirm the visit. Shubhajit Roy, who reports on matters of foreign affairs, explains the reasons behind this and why this appears to be diplomatic power play by China. And, what RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said in his annual Dussehra speech.
