DIMENSION DATA PROVIDES SCALABILITY AND SECURITY TO LEADING CONTAINER TRANSPORTATION COMPANY

Hong Kong, China, January 12, 2018 /ChinaNewswire.com/ - DIMENSION DATA PROVIDES SCALABILITY AND SECURITY TO LEADING CONTAINER TRANSPORTATION COMPANY

Flexible software development network solutions reduce time needed to deploy virtual workloads and simplifies private cloud integration

Hong Kong, 9 Jan 2018 – Global ICT solutions and services provider, Dimension Data, has been chosen to provide Software Defined Network (SDN) solutions to one of the world’s largest integrated container transportation, logistics and terminal companies. Under the agreement, Dimension Data will provide them with a flexible virtual network provisioning and service chaining platform that can be deployed with their existing network infrastructure, eliminating the need for investing in new network hardware.

The organisation has consistently focused on providing customer-centric solutions through the use of information technology and innovation, including the use of e-commerce for the management of its cargo process. However, they faced limitations when the existing data centre network architecture failed to provide sufficient flexibility, multi-tenancy features and integration to their private cloud. To overcome these challenges, they are building a next-generation Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system on top of their IaaS cloud platform – and were seeking a solution that would facilitate this, as well as, allow scalability and secured multi-tenancy between carriers.

Dimension Data proposed a solution that unifies the network architecture within the data centre, simplifying processes for data centre expansion and migration. This would allow applications to be deployed as fast as possible and provide a holistic view in ensuring that the infrastructure meets the current and future requirements of the business. The solution approach aims to deliver tangible improvements to operations by shortening the time needed for data centre interconnects and for deploying virtual workloads. This will promote greater agility in scaling the ERP platform through the openstack infrastructure.

“We are excited to be working with one of the world’s largest integrated transport and logistics companies. They are known for their commitment to continuous innovation and services excellence. Our solutions approach and implementation will enable them to scale in an agile and secure manner and we are fully committed to supporting them to meet their evolving business needs and keep them at the forefront of innovation,” said Steven Medeiros, President, Dimension Data Hong Kong.
