China’s Youzu.com Acquires German Game Maker For CNY580 Million

Youzu.com announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Yousu GmbH signed a share purchase agreement with Germany's Bigpoint Investments GmbH, aiming to acquire a 100% stake in Bigpoint HoldCo GmbH for no more than EUR80 million, which is about CNY580 million.

Bigpoint is a European online game and mobile game developer and content provider and operator. Its games are provided to users for free and its revenue is from the sale of virtual items in the games.

By December 2015, Bigpoint had 60 games contributing to its revenue, including 57 PC online games and three mobile games. According to the audit report provided by KPMG, from January to December 2015, Bigpoint's major income sources were web games and mobile games. Its combined income from PC online games and mobile games was EUR60.284 million, representing net losses of EUR3.357 million.

At present, Bigpoint's revenue is mainly from four web games – Farmerama, DarkOrbit, Drakensang Online, and Seaflight. Revenue from those four games accounts for 91.7% of the total revenue of the company.

In 2016, Bigpoint will introduce two new games: a web game basing on Game of Thrones and a new product developed by the company named Dragon Rise.

Youzu.com started enhancing investment in overseas businesses in 2015. During the entire year of 2015, the company's overseas operating revenue reached a year-on-year increase of 137.08% to CNY770 million, accounting for over 50% of the total revenue of the company.
