China’s Giant Appoints New CEO

Chinese online game developer and operator Giant Interactive Group Inc. announced that its board of directors has appointed Liu Wei, former president of Giant, as new chief executive officer; and appointed Ji Xuefeng, former senior development vice president, as new president.

These changes were effective on April 19, 2013.

Shi Yuzhu, chairman of Giant, said that since the IPO of the company, Giant’s senior executives have shown excellent performance in strategy and implementation. Over the past three years, they have fully managed the company and achieved operating revenue growth for 12 consecutive quarters. The board of directors and Shi believe these executives will lead the company to a new height.

Liu began working as director of Giant from October 2006 and was appointed president in September 2007. From 2004 to 2007, she was general manager of Shanghai Goldpartner Biotech Company; from 2001 to 2004, she worked for Shanghai Jiante Biotech Company as deputy general manager and general manager; from 1992 to 1995, she was vice president of Zhuhai Giant Group. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Nanjing University and a master’s degree from China Europe International Business School.

Ji started working as senior development vice president of Giant from April 2012. He was appointed vice president of Giant in September 2009. From 2007 to 2009, he was project general manager for Giant’s online game named Zheng Tu. From 2005 to 2007, he held several positions such as game statistics designer, chief designer, and project manager in this online game project. Ji holds both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Fudan University.
