Cloudary, the Internet literature subsidiary of Shanda Interactive Entertainment Limited, and Qihoo 360 have inked a strategic cooperation to jointly provide Internet literature search contents to Chinese users.

Qihoo 360 promised that its comprehensive search engine will put Cloudary’s authenticated contents in preferential positions within its search results, aiming to lower the ratio of pirated contents in search results.

Hou Xiaoqiang, chief executive officer of Cloudary, told local media that copyright is the life of Cloudary and copyright protection is an unavoidable issue. He said search engines are the traffic portals and information retrieval channels in China; therefore, solving copyright problems needs the support of search engines.

Cloudary said that the two parties made several deals via the cooperation. When users use Qihoo 360’s search engine to search for Internet literature content, of which Cloudary owns the copyrights, Qihoo 360 will display the results from Cloudary’s website in preferential positions.

In addition, another Chinese search engine Sogou.com joined Cloudary to call for copyright protection. Sogou.com said that at the beginning of 2012, Sogou.com started putting genuine contents in the preferential positions of its search results. Moreover, the company is considering further measures to always display genuine contents in the first position of its search results.
