Amazon.cn has announced the formal launch of its new operating center in Tianjin, which is the B2C e-commerce retailer’s eleventh operations center in China.
Amazon.cn said that during 2012, the company will focus more on the warehousing and logistics sector, and the total area of its operating centers in China is expected to increase.
The first phase project of Amazon.cn’s Tianjin operating center reportedly covers an area of over 90,000 square meters. With the launch of the new center, the company’s warehousing operations area in North China grows to 170,000 square meters.
Wang Hanhua, president for Amazon.cn, told local media that warehousing and logistics are key for the sustainable development of e-commerce, and it is important for the shopping experience of consumers. In October 2011, Amazon.cn launched its Kunshan operating center, which is said to be the largest and most advanced of its kind in East China.
In addition, Amazon.cn said it has now established cash-on-delivery services in 1,500 cities and regions in China.
