Chinese Internet portal NetEase.com has launched a new coupon platform, Quan.163.com, marking its latest online move following the unveiling of its recent lottery and insurance e-commerce businesses.
According to the company, Quan.163.com is an Internet coupon and shopping guide platform that integrates many B2C vendors from around China. More than 130 B2C websites, including 360buy.com, Yihaodian.com, and Vancl.com have inked deals with NetEase.com, providing over one million coupons with a value of CNY57 million to users.
With the new platform, NetEase.com’s 430 million email users will be able to exchange their points gained by using the email services into coupons.
Compared with the existing coupon platforms in China, NetEase.com’s new product has several distinctive features. First, Quan.163.com is a third-party platform and it does not have conflict of interests with B2C service providers. Second, it only serves the B2C sector and will not cover the C2C market. Next, NetEase.com has a specific team to support this service, enabling it to provide more coupons and deeper discounts to users. Finally, the new platform is based on the large user group utilizing the company’s email services.
Liu Xiaogang, general manager of the email business department of NetEase.com, revealed that Quan.163.com will focus on providing better product experiences, and it does not worry about making profit during its first year of operation.
