Japanese Mobile Phone Gaming Platform To Enter China Next Month

DeNA, Japan’s leading mobile phone gaming company, plans to enter the Chinese market in late February 2011 by introducing a gaming application software platform in China.

Wang Yong, chief executive officer for DeNA China Network Technology Company and chief executive officer for the original Tx.com.cn, also revealed that in August 2009, DeNA acquired Tx.com.cn and renamed the company DeNA China Network Technology Company, which will be fully responsible for the operation of the new gaming application software platform in China.

Wang explained that Chinese game developers can put their products on DeNA’s gaming application platform and these products can be purchased and downloaded by users around the world. DeNA will gain 30% of the payments while the developers gain 70%. So far, about 20 to 30 Chinese game developers have already reached agreements with DeNA.

According to official statistics provided by DeNA, the company is the largest mobile phone gaming application platform in Japan. It has over 20 million registered users and more than 200 third-party games. The gaming application development platform is one of its major businesses.

On August 6, 2010, DeNA published its performance for the first fiscal quarter, stating that its total operating revenue during the reporting period was USD279 million, a year-on-year increase of 175%; and its operating profit was USD138 million, a year-on-year increase of 282%.
