Chinese Search Engine Promotes Two Vice Presidents

Chinese search engine company Baidu Inc. has announced in an internal email that it has promoted Wang Mengqiu and Zhu Guang as its vice presidents.

According to reports in local media, Wang joined Baidu in November 2002. Before the promotion, Wang was a senior technology director in the company. In July 2003, Wang was named senior engineer; and in January 2004, she was promoted to project manager. She also worked as general manager for the Laser and Spider sectors of Baidu’s portal search department. Wang graduated from Peking University with a bachelor degree of computer science and she attained her master degree in computer science in the University of California, Los Angeles.

Zhu joined Baidu at the end of 2008. Before the promotion, Zhu was senior director for marketing and public relations. He was also the spokesperson for the company. After assuming the position of vice president, Zhu will continue to command Baidu’s various departments, including public relations, internal communications, brand management, user product marketing, and public affairs. Prior to joining Baidu, Zhu reportedly worked for Lenovo as senior director of public relations and combined promotion in the Greater China region. Zhu graduated from Xi’an Jiaotong University in 1996.

At present, Baidu has seven vice presidents.
