China Unicom To Invest CNY10 Billion In Chongqing In Next Five Years

Chinese telecom operator China Unicom and the municipal government of Chongqing have signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement to enhance the operator’s investment in the city.

Under the agreement, China Unicom will invest CNY10 billion in the next five years to support Chongqing’s construction of information infrastructure as well as improve the coverage of 3G network.

The two parties will enhance the innovation of technology services, cultivate new growth points, and accelerate the development of the information service industry in Chongqing. At the same time, they will integrate advantage resources, combine WCDMA and near field communication, attract NFC-related enterprises, and gradually form a competitive NFC industry cluster.

The two parties will also jointly establish an NFC industry alliance to promote the development of NFC-related industries. China Unicom’s research institute will set up an engineering technology center for the Internet of Things in Chongqing to promote the application of the NFC technology in the laptop and related industries.

According to the planning, by 2015, Chongqing’s NFC industry alliance will strive to achieve a comprehensive output value of CNY50 billion. To ensure the smooth implementation of the cooperation, China Unicom and the municipal government of Chongqing have set up a regular meeting system and a joint working conference system has also been established for the coordination of various events and activities.
