According to reports in Taiwanese local media, Udn.com, the official website of the island’s well-known news media United Daily News, has cooperated with Gohappy.com.tw, the online shopping website owned by Far Eastern Group in Taiwan, in the launch of a shopping channel.
The jointly launched new shopping channel on Udn.com reportedly includes over 400,000 products in 14 categories and it combines the advantages of both physical and virtual sales. People who buy products on the website or in Far Eastern Group’s over 7,500 physical stores under the brands of Far Eastern Department Stores, Pacific SOGO Department Stores, and A.mart will be able to gain bonus points, which can be changed into products or offset cash in payments on the website.
Liu Yongping, general manager for the online business of Udn.com, said that the users of Udn.com have high spending power. Facing the Internet shopping opportunity, Udn.com will enhance its development of e-commerce starting from 2010. The cooperation with Far Eastern Group’s Gohappy.com.tw will adopt a dual-name operation and they will take resource advantages of both parties to provide a quality and comfortable shopping atmosphere to netizens.
Lin Lijun, senior assistant manager for the e-commerce business department of Gohappy.com.tw, said that depending on Far Eastern Group’s powerful retail channels, including those of Far Eastern Department Stores and Pacific SOGO Department Stores, Udn.com’s new shopping channel will offer the fun of cross-industry consumption to netizens.
