Taobao.com, the Internet auction and shopping website owned by the Chinese B2B e-commerce group Alibaba, has launched a new streamlined homepage.
The update of its front page is reportedly in line with the seventh anniversary of the website.
According to the navigation of the new front page, Taobao.com has changed its business modules like “official stores on Taobao”, “home appliances city”, and “word of mouth information” originally on the left to a horizontal layout; while modules like “tickets and hotel”, “legend of goods”, and “Taobao ratings” are listed on the left.
To provide convenience to users, frequently used services, including mobile phone recharge and airline ticket, are placed in more prominent positions. In addition, shopping information gets a larger area.
A representative in charge of the user experience design of Taobao.com told local media that Taobao.com’s users are growing and changing, so the company needs to continuously explore the demands of users. In the future, Taobao.com will revise its layout more frequently to meet the varied demands of users.
