Beijing-based newspaper Beijing Youth Daily and China Unicom Beijing branch have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to implement close cooperation in communications and Internet media sectors.

Under the agreement, the two parties will use each other’s advantages in the communications and media fields to fully integrate their existing telecom and new media services and jointly establish a new media platform. The two companies will first launch a series of new media products, including a telecom yellow pages, outdoor media, and mobile phone newspaper, to combine traditional telecom and media products in a new way.

Li Shiheng, executive deputy director of Beijing Youth Daily, told local media that Beijing Youth Daily has rich media experience and it has advantages in news editing, delivery, and media market analysis. In the cooperation with China Unicom, Beijing Youth Daily will play its media advantages to create a new media platform.

Li Litao, general manager for group client department of China Unicom Beijing, said that as one of the three major telecom operators in China, China Unicom has full telecom services and many value-added services that will help this new cooperation.

Financial terms of the deal have not been revealed.
